This website describes the events that took place in San Sebastián de Garabandal in Cantabria, Spain, starting in 1961. We do not intend to supplant the definitive judgment regarding the events that took place in Garabandal. Such judgment belongs to the authority of the Catholic Church alone, to which we submit ourselves.

Dear friends,
We are filled with joy when we think that it was in this month, July, that the Virgin Mary, Our Mother, appeared in Garabandal for the first time. It was an ordinary visit, but it started all the other apparitions that took place in the village. The date of the first apparition was July 2, 1961. At the time, July 2nd was the Feast of the Visitation, which, with the reformation of the Roman Calendar, would later move to May 31. Certainly, we could exclaim like Saint Elizabeth: "And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Luke 1:43). The Virgin Mary came to teach us so many things and to bring us joy: Jesus Himself. It is important that we do not forget his words, that we do not forget his Mother's love. We can get used to so many things and lose our astonishment at such great mysteries like the Eucharist, faith, the divine presence in our souls, his word, the visit of the Virgin Mary... We have to hold on to the feeling of amazement and never cease to give thanks for all these gifts that God gives us.
