Dear friends,
We are already in the middle of this year's Lent. We can ask ourselves, “Have we changed anything? Has there been conversion? Am I fulfilling the resolutions I made at the beginning of Lent?” If upon asking this and many other questions that may arise when examining ourselves, we find that we have been slacking, we still have time. The Lord insists that a broken and contrite heart is what pleases Him. It’s not so much the external expressions—although they can help—but rather the conversion of heart that God desires. He wants us to break our hardened heart and stand before Him as a truly repentant sinner: "Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me, for I am a sinner." The Virgin Mary, our Mother, continues to accompany us on this Lenten journey, telling us once and again, "Meditate on the Passion of Jesus." By thinking about his Passion, the immense love of God the Father for men, our heart breaks and is filled with stupor and repentance. This Lent, let us not take our gaze off of Jesus Crucified, but rather fix our eyes upon Him and try, as much as possible, to be a consolation for Him and for His Mother, and Our Mother, Mary.
